My Technical Odyssey

“Given ten hours to chop a tree, I would spend eight hours sharpening my axe”. It is this trait in me that has constantly enabled a seamless transition from an undergraduate student to a lead developer at Huawei Technologies – one of the Telecom majors and from a lead developer to a Graduate Computer Science student at the San Jose State University.

During my odyssey of over 5 years in the development of software for android smart phones, I was responsible for evangelizing the OMA DM protocols like Firmware update over the air, device lock and wipe and diagnostics monitoring.

I was instrumental in deploying the Huawei smartphones on the LTE networks in USA for the very 1st time. The fortitude that I gained while interacting with multiple stake holders in the project, like the customers (Telecom majors: AT & T, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular), the Chinese counterparts in the Headquarters and the development team in India is something that has made me more mature and a better team player.

Working in a technically challenging environment, I was able to carve a niche for myself by independently handling the different phases of a project. I spearheaded a team of 3 engineers towards the development of the Lock and Wipe protocol.

Around this time that I came across a famous quote by Steve Jobs – “If you do something and it turns out good, then you should do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long”. It made me realize that I have to develop a wide spectrum of knowledge base to conduct productive research. So I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Computer Science in San Jose State University and learning many aspects of research by several professors in my bailiwick.

I am obsessed with new technologies and anything to do with the web and I am currently using my knowledge to develop a LinkedIn database for my Graduate school. My thirst for knowledge has driven me to explore various arenas in the field of Computer networks and Android mobile phone development.
